Personal Information Protection and Privacy

Korean Film Festival Canada (“KFFC”) understands the importance of your privacy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and any personal information we collect about you through our website or other means. It will outline the steps we take to keep your personal information confidential, and it will provide you with the means to contact us should you have questions or concerns about our protection practices. This Privacy Policy works in conjunction with our Terms of Use.

Depending on the reason for collection, we may collect your name, street address, email address, telephone number, credit card information, profession, photograph, and, in regards to our website, password and computer information such as your IP address, operating system, web browser software, screen resolution, and any referrer web sites.

Methods of Collection of Personal Information

We collect personal information that is given to us voluntarily when you contact us via telephone, e-mail, our website, or in person (including in photographs or videos at in-person events). We may also collect personal information from our community partners, sponsors, and other third parties who have obtained the consent of the person the information belongs to before giving said information to us.

KFFC may collect your personal information and/or use it to provide you with products, services, or announcements, to bill you for the purchase of tickets or merchandise, to acknowledge your donation and provide information of said donation to the CRA, to provide you with information of promotions, surveys, contests, and special events related to the festival, to improve your use of our website, to respond to your submission to or correspondence with us, to provide all staff, partners, and members of the public with a secure and safe environment online and in person, and to cooperate with law enforcement, laws and codes, and legal proceedings as required.

Disclosure of Personal Information

KFFC will never sell or rent any personal information. When you buy a ticket or products through us, we disclose your personal information to a third party service provider for fulfillment and shipping purposes only. 

How KFFC Protects Your Privacy

KFFC is committed to protecting your privacy. We have adopted security measures such as encryption on our website to protect your personal information. In addition, any employees and volunteers who are given access to personal information are required to use it strictly in accordance with our Privacy Policy and any applicable laws. We will hold on to your personal information only as long as it remains relevant for the purposes for which we have been given it, consistently following the rules set out in this Privacy Policy and any applicable laws. That being said, we are unable to guarantee that personal information given to us will not be intercepted by third parties by means that are outside of our control.

We are committed to preventing spam and unsolicited emails. If you have received an email from us in error, you may remove your personal information from our database by emailing us to  request to unsubscribe at [email protected]

Personal Information of Children

We cannot legally collect any personal information from a child under the age of thirteen without the consent of that child’s parent(s) or guardian(s). The statements in our Privacy Policy also apply to our treatment of personal information from children under the age of thirteen, with the added protection of the special rule about parental consent.

Parental Consent

We will not knowingly accept the personal information of anyone under the age of 13 without parental consent. If you are a parent of a child under the age of thirteen we expect you to approve any action your child takes with regard to and prior to your child conducting any activity on our website.

Disclosure for Legal Purposes

We may be required to share your personal information pursuant to judicial or governmental subpoenas, warrants or orders, and will do so if required by law.

Korean Film Festival Canada is a cultural event that brings together directors, actors, scholars, and the general public to embrace the narratives of Korean and Korean-Canadian filmmaking. We are dedicated to providing an enjoyable, respectful and harassment-free experience for all attendees, staff, professionals, and volunteers. We do not condone discrimination, harassment, sexism, abusive language, or threatening or disrespectful behavior that is degrading to another person or group. KFFC reserves the right to revoke the badge, ticket, credentials, or access of any attendee or credentialed person found to be in violation of this policy without notice or refund.
