Comfort, Montreal Closing Film

  • 10개월 ago

COMFORT will be the closing film of our festival in Montreal on June 4, and we want to share with you its significance.

During World War II, KIM Soonak was a survivor of Japanese military sexual slavery. After the war, her life was yet another battle. She engaged in prostitution, US camptown sex trade, and also worked as a maid. Weaving interviews of activists, archive footage, animation, and the recital of testimonies, the film reconstructs the life stories of the late KIM Soonak.

Let’s not forget about the past.

Join us for this screening, experience the movie and understand the struggles and atrocities behind it.

In addition, the Statue of Peace will be installed at McCord Stewart Museum’s atrium for the screening, a work of art that commemorates Korea’s “comfort women.” Sit next to it, reflect, and think about the importance of learning and understanding this part of history.

June 4, 7:30PM
McCord Stewart Museum, Montreal
Online / Door: $14 (GA) · $12 (65+) · $10 (STUDENT)
