Korean Film Festival Canada Newsletter 31

We are excited to start the new year by sharing encouraging news!

The 3rd edition of our upcoming international conference will be supported by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS). The AKS is recognized as one of the most important funding bodies in relation to research and exploration on Korean arts, culture and studies. The conference will be held throughout the last week of August and hosted by Asian Art Publication Lab (AAPLab), centering around the theme of “Korean Arts: Environment of Sustainability and Resilience.” The year 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Korea. We are happy to explore this theme focusing on Korean arts which are currently in the global spotlight. The Call For Paper will be announced in February 2023!

Vision: Nurturing the Future

We are a non profit artist-driven organization based in Canada focusing on Asian arts. Our incubator program for youth is one of our critical projects that uplifts and nurtures future visionaries and leaders of the next generation of the Pan-Asian arts and cultural community. In line with this vision, since 2020 we have focused on fostering leadership programs by building workshops, seminars, mentorships and scholarships for youth interns on our staff, for example, our recent orientation trip to the 26th Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival. The goal of our internship program is to facilitate emerging artists in visual media arts and novices in arts administration in gaining professional experience in the field of Asian arts and culture. We will continue to develop diverse projects for the Asian youth community.
